In a sudden development, Xiaomi, which had suspended the online flash sale of its debut mobile phone Mi 3 said it will go on sale on Monday just for one day, celebrating the Republic Day and only limited units will be sold on “first-come-first served” basis.
Registration for Mi3 is open till 2 PM on Monday and the flash sale may last for a couple fo seconds as the device Mi3 was still cherished by those who could lay their hands on, despite severe competition for it online at Flipkart, whose website once crashed due to the rush.
But this time, more than pre-registration, users should also like the Mi India Facebook ad and share it with at least 3 friends before visiting the promotion page on the company’s official India site at 12pm on Monday, where they have fill in their email address used for Flipkart account.
The Mi3 was sold last time in October and only 25,000 units were sold on Flipkart for those who repeatedly registered online for the device. The Republic Day sale will be the last sale of Mi3 in India, said the company, which is launching the Mi4, an improved version of Mi3 on wednesday.
Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi Mi 3 in July 2014 priced at Rs. 13,999 and it was sold online at Flipkart for pre-registered buyers and in all its six online sales, it was sold in few second with a record 3 seconds once.
Based on Android 4.4 KitKat that was tweaked with its MIUI 5, the Mi3 features a 5-inch full-HD LCD display with 1080×1920 pixels, with pixel density of 441ppi, sporting a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
With a 2GB of RAM, its inbuilt storage was 16 GB and has a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, and a 3050mAh battery.
