Xiaomi Mi 4 16GB Model slashes price further to Rs.14,999

mi4iChinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is on a spree to slash down its existing brands’ prices in India to sell off the stock ahead of its upcoming new smartphone Mi 4i Grey.

The new slashed price of the Mi 4 16 GB model is now cut by 16% to sell at Rs.14,999. “We are announcing price cut of Mi 4 16 GB model to Rs 14,999. It is effective from 9 pm (June 17),” said Hugo Barra, vice president of Xiaomi. He also said it would be available on Flipkart and mi.com to begin with and will be available on oher channel partners.

With exchange, it is available for Rs.9,999 on Flipkart. “Exchange upto Rs. 5000 on Mi 4. Please note that only functional and display intact devices will be accepted. The IMEI number on the device will be verified by the executive collecting the device,” said Flipkart, which has come under suspicion over the latest despatch of stones instead of laptops in Bangalore recently.

The occasion that the company cited was that it was celebrating sale of one crore Mi 4 smartphones in India. However, the competition between Xiaomi and One Plus, both Chinese smartphone makers willing to take risk and sell at cheaper rates, is reflecting in India in price cuts on their six-month old models.

However, like its advertisement before the company is claiming Rs.5,000 price cut, which includes the Rs.2,000 price cut announced in April, when the price of Mi 4 was slashed by Rs 2,000 to Rs 17,999. Xiaomi launched the Mi 4 smartphone in India, almost 6 months after its launch in China in July 2014.
