Chinese budget phone maker Xiaomi has launched the 64GB variant of Mi 4 with a price tag of Rs. 23,999 on Flipkart, but without any pre-registration or Tuesday Flash Sale saga with limited units avaialble. In fact, its 16GB variant is already available on Flipkart for Rs.19,999 since March 26.
For the first time, Xiaomi has decided to go offline and sell its mobile phones and tablets via the retail chain “The Mobile Store”. Announcing it, Xiaomi India head Manu Jain said: “This will be the first time that we’re getting into offline trade in India.”
Besdies being the physical sales points across the country for Xiaomi’s MI phones, The Mobile Store outlets will also turn into service centers for the Xiaomi phones.
Earlier this month, Xiaomi started its own online retail store for India mi.com/in where it is offering only its accessories and not phones as of now.
Unlike India, Xiaomi’s 20-30% of total sales come from telecom operator’s stores in China while the rest comes from their sole online store “Mi.com”. The company is vying for similar model in few months from now with its Mi.com/in.
The Xiaomi 64GB Mi 4 comes with a 5-inch full HD display with Corning Concore Glass, and operates on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with MIUI v6.0 as the interface. Powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 series Quad-core CPU, the device comes with a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera for selfies.
The device with a 3GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage and 3,080mAh Li-ion battery, anyday ranges in the high-end series and certainly not in the budget range. The difference of Rs.4,000 for the 16GB and 64GB makes all the difference but budget-conscious buyers can go for the 16GB version.
This is in addition to its Redmi Note 4G which has gone on open sale on Flipkart.
