Xiaomi Launches 16000mAh and 5000mAh Mi Power Banks; Holds Contest to Decide Which One Goes on Sale

Dual USB ports and premium Li-ion battery cells encased in a sleek aluminium casing feature in Xiaomi 16000mAh Mi Power Bank priced Rs.1399 in India.

Xiaomi has officially launched its 16000mAh power bank and 5000mAh Mi Power Bank handset chargers priced Rs. 1,399 and Rs. 699 respectively and the company is holding a contest as to which one of them should hit the market first on June 9.

However, the 16000mAh was introduced in China six months ago and the 5000mAh Power Bank was released in the European market last month. Even a 10000mAh version was introduced in China early this month and is likely to hit the Indian market three months later.

Listed on Flipkart, both Xiaomi power banks are available in textured anodised aluminium casings and are water and corrosion proof. they can even withstand a weight pressure of up to 50kgs and sport indicator lights.

The Flipkart page says Mi Power Banks can be used 5000 times with USB insertion and removal that would otherwise wear out faster in other power banks. With a dual-battery technology from LG and Samsung, Xiaomi assures the buyer that chipset will not face any short-circuit, protects against any input and output overvoltage and overcharge.

The 16000mAh power bank comes with usual two USB 2.0 ports, and one Micro-USB port giving an output of 5.1V/3.6A. It measures 145×60.4×22mm and weighs 350 grams and Xiaomi claims the device provides a conversion rate of up to 93 percent. It gives 3.5 full charges for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, says the company.

The 5000mAh Mi Power Bank has only one USB 2.0 port and one Micro-USB port, and it measures 125×69×9.9mm, weighing 156 grams. Its conversion rate is of course same as the 16000mAh and it offers 5.1V/2.1A output. It gives one full charge for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, says the company.

Xiaomi is also holding an online conest on its website where users can vote for one of the two power banks, which they wish to go on sale first on June 9.
