As today is observed as World Hypertension Day to increase awareness among the people about the increasing incidence of high blood pressure, which WHO says might affect 60% of the world population by 2025.
Here are some home remedies or Ayurvedic advisory which have been practised in India over centuries:
Eating banana regularly controls high blood pressure as it has potassium and decreases the side effects of sodium intake or salt in the body. Also increase intake of apricots, raisins, currants, orange juice, spinach, sweet potatoes and cantaloupe.
Eat More Garlic
Garlic helps blood vessels to relax by producing nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide and consumption of one or two crushed garlic cloves daily helps in good blood flow.
Eating pepper helps in smoothening blood flow, prevents platelets from clumping and accumulating in the blood.
Take Honey Daily:
Eat two tea spoons of honey on an empty stomach every morning. Or mix one teaspoon of honey with ginger juice and two teaspoons of cumin seed powder and eat twice a day.
Methi or fenugreek seeds, with high potassium and dietary fiber, help in reducing blood pressure. Prepare a paste of boiled fenugreek seeds in a mixer and eat the paste twice a day on an empty stomach
Watermelon seeds have cucurbocitrin, which helps widen the blood capillaries almost simik seeds help in kidney functioning and also recommended for arthritis. Grind watermelon seeds and poppy seeds in equal quantity and take it daily on an empty stomach in the morning and in the evening.
