Social networking giant Facebook’s website crashed on Thursday for a while with all the computer and mobile phone users facing a blank page showing “Sorry” from the official link.
The outage was felt mostly in Asia as it was night time in the United States and the Northern Americas and in Rio De Janeiro where the FIFA 2014 was being held.
When Facebook users in Australia, South Korea, India and Britain tried to access it, they were greeted with a message saying “Sorry, something went wrong”.
While the reason for the worldwide outage was not immediately explained by the FaceBook, hacking attempts as in the past annot be ruled out. However, Anonymous too did not explain if it was behind the website shutdown.
The FaceBook was , however, down for an hour or so and was restored soon, on Thursday.
Otherwise, many media sites failed to open the social networking site “for a brief period of time”, a Facebook spokesman said.
“We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 percent,” he said. “We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
