For box office lovers, the figures this week were disheartening indeed with Desi Kattey collecting Rs.60 lakhs on its opening day, followed by 3 A.M. at Rs.30 lakhs.
In fact, Ali Saif Khan’s ‘Chaarfutiya Chhokare’ is still struggling to rake in money despite positive reviews of the film at Rs.5 lakhs, far behind ‘Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaye’ in terms of its opening day collections. Same is the case with Meinu Ek Ladki Chaahiye and Deer Vs Bear.
The weekend, coinciding with the festive holiday of Dussehra, is unlikely to bring more people to theatres or multiplexes as it would drive them to temples and Durga Mandals across the country.
Even Desi Kattey’s top collections this week were meagre compared to the fact that it was released in more than 1,000 screens and could have started with at least in a crore or two for the opening day. Many reports show that all the seven films released on Sept. 26 were a “washout”.
The approximate first day collections of the new releases, according to BoxofficeIndia.com are:
Desi Kattey – 60,00,000
3 AM – 30,00,000
BSFHG – 10,00,000
Chaarfutiya Chhokare – 5,00,000.
Meanwhile, trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who was missed for over a month, has stepped out of his home after illness to attend Sanjay Gupta’s “Mata Ki Chowki”.
