German car maker Volkswagen has released its latest sedan Vento in India priced in mid-range at Rs. 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), close on the heels of its successfullaunch of Polo earlier this year.
The interiors have been decked up and an updated engine leaving behind the outgoing 1.6 TDI engine has been fixed for the new updated version of Polo.
In terms of interiors, the German car has a new dual tone theme with beige and brown and the leather and plastic interiors. The dashboard looks similar to Polo with slab-like look. The center console bears a new flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel, with adjustable driver’s seat height, power mirrors, CD/MP3 player and climate control.
Rear passengers will get individual screens with the front headrests. It is also loaded with safety features like the ABS with EBD, front airbags, remote lock, engine immobilizer among others.
Coming to exteriors, the look bears unusually elegant with new fog lamps, a slightly tweaked bumper, an updated grille and dual-bezel headlamps, besides an integrated boot.It looks similar to the Polo in terms of the B-pillar and the 15-inch alloy wheels.
The Vento has a powerful engine with 1.5 liter TDI turbo diesel engine that produces 103.5bhp (105PS) of and 250Nm of peak torque. It is available in manual 5-gear transmission and optional dual-shift 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
The petrol variant has 1.6 MPI motor that churns out 103.5bhp and 153Nm of max torque. Its 1.2 TSI motor generates 103.5bhp and 175Nm of peak torque and is mated to same 7-speed DSG AT. The Vento will face competition mostly from Honda City, Hyundai Verna and upcoming Maruti Ciaz.
