In a spree of cases of police highhandedness in the US cities, a police officer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area was suspended soon after a video surfaced showing him hurling abuses at teenagers who were attending a pool party near the airport.
McKinney (Texas) Police visited the party after a reported fight near the Craig Ranch North Community Pool and handcuffed several party attendees, including some who were not participants in the fight, said reports, while the police maintain that the party did not have permission to be there.
The video showed one woman shoved and taken to the ground by an officer that prompted McKinney police Chief Greg Conley on Sunday to suspend the officer. “The McKinney Police department is committed to treating all persons fairly under the law,” Conley said.
“Anytime you confront a large group of people, it’s a very dynamic situation and tensions can rise very quickly,” he said.
However, the name of the now-suspended officer is not known.
