The latest Kannada Movie ‘Vajrakaya’ was released on Friday. The director of the movie is Harsha and that the star cast comprises of Hatrick Star Shiv RajKumar, Nabha Natesh, Shubra Aiyappa, Jayasudha, Madhu Guruswamy and Avinash, makes it all the more interesting.
The story is about an orphan who has been adopted by a family and is living with them. At times he is being reminded that he is not one among the family members and also realisation strikes him that he is not an orphan after all. Thereafter, he begins the search for his mother. The real story strikes when the search takes him to the place that is lost in time.
The movie has tried and tested saga of mother-son sentiment. Among the three actresses, the hero romances with two of them in between. The movie is not as good as Jogi but so bad as Belli.
According to the review written by Shyam Prasad S of Bangalore Mirror, “Not repeating a successful combination is a sin. So Harsha and Shiva Rajkumar come up with Vajrakaya after succeeding with Bhajarangi. No doubt a large number of fans come with the hangover of Bhajarangi. Director Harsha, however, serves something very different from the previous film. But one thing he manages very well is to send them back satisfied. This is a film that will have Shiva Rajkumar’s fans asking for more. Those who have watched Bhajarangi should know beforehand that there are no ghosts, supernatural elements or God’s interventions in this film. But there is a make-believe fantasy world that is created that satisfies the commercial requirements.”
Besides, Shivsy of Desimartini reviews and writes, ‘Vajrakaya – Fists of fury.’
The reviewer rates the movie with 2.5/5 stars and writes the verdict saying, “Evoking the rich legacy of his illustrious father, Shivrajkumar soaks you in treacly, teary, mother sentiment pickled with the feisty punch. Technically enterprising, thematically trashy tripe, cinematically crass and cacophonic, A Harsha’s Vajrakaya is a familiar fetid fare which packs a punch”
Yes, given that Karunaadu Chakravarthy aka Shivrajkumar, looms large as Veera Pratap Simha, a wronged son blessed with diamond resilience, its fists of fury right from word go.
‘Vajrakaya,’ which was released on Friday in approximately 200 theatres across Karnataka, has made box office collection of Rs.3.36 crore in a day, reported Filmibeat.
