Costa Rica has been in torrid form as of late losing 4 games out of the last 6. The Tico’s have been the fancied side to finish last in a group that is expected to have a three way fight for the first two spots. They need to gun for at least a draw today to remain relevant in the tournament.
Luis Suarez’s injury continuous to plague Uruguay. The star striker has been in scintillating form for Liverpool and Oscar Tabarez will hope he recovers in time for this fixture. He has topped the South American qualifying charts with 11 goals and was also a major component in their exploits in South Africa.
With Cavani, Suarez and Forlan leading the line, Uruguay will look to attack from the word go. They boast of Europe’s deadliest striker force and they will be expected to fire on all cylinders.
Uruguay (Possible, 4-4-2): Muslera; Pereira, Lugano, Godin, Caceres; Rios, Lodeiro, Stuani, Rodriguez; Forlan, Cavani.
Costa Rica (Possible, 5-4-1): Navas; Gamboa, Umana, Gonzalez, Acosta, Diaz; Bolanos, Borges, Tejeda; Campbell, Ruiz.
Prediction: 3-0 to Uruguay
Players to watch out for:
Uruguay– Cavani – With Suarez most likely to miss out, the focus now shifts to PSG striker Edinson Cavani. The fiery striker has a knack for scoring important goals and he will be Uruguay’s vital player.
Costa Rica – Bryan Ruiz – Fulham striker Bryan Ruiz will be the threat to a shaky Uruguay defense. The lanky striker is a fan favorite and is known for his exceptional ball control and free kick expertise. His form will be Costa Rica’s driving force.
