The UPSC has declared the preliminary results of the Civil Services Prelims Exam 2015 on Tuesday with 15,000 candidates selected to take the Mains to be held in December this year.
Candidates can check their results at upsc.gov.in
The qualified candidates can fill the Detailed Application Form (DAF) online for civil services (main) examination, to be held from December 18, 2015, said the UPSC in a statement. “A total of 15,008 candidates have qualified in the preliminary examination,” UPSC Secretary Ashim Khurana said in the statement. "The results of the preliminary exam were declared within 50 days of conducting the exam. It is the shortest ever duration in which the results were declared,” he said.
A total of 9,45,908 candidates have applied for the exam but only 4.63 lakh had taken the exam held on August 23, which is less than half at about 49 per cent.
Even last year, despite the delay in holding the exam due to elections, the results were decalred in 51 days and this time within 50 days.
The Civil Services (Mains) 2015 will be held from December 18, 2015 and the Personality Test will be held in April and May 2016 after the Mains results are declared.
The three-stage exam of the civil services is considered the most prestigious as the candidates qualified are offered government jobs in the country’s highest bureaucracy such as — Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), and other central services.
The preliminary examination consisted of two papers — Paper I and Paper II of two hours duration each. Candidates with queries can approach the facilitation centre at the UPSC premises or by phone on all working days between 10 AM to 5 PM.
