Coinciding with Gandhiji’s birth anniversary on October 2, that falls in the weekend, October will see four big banner films and about 10 budget films released to keep movie fans busy with a wide choice, while Shahrukh Khan’s “Happy New Yer” and Hrithik Roshan’s “Bang Bang” are stealing the limelight throughout.
October 2, which falls on Thursday but a national holiday is right for a big release in Bollywood and Hrithik Roshan’s “Bang Bang” is bang on time for another mega hit after ‘Krrish 3′ last year by the actor. “Bang Bang” is a Rs.180 crore film featuring Katrina Kaif opposite Hrithik Roshan, with stunts and action scenes gripping the film. Shot in Abu Dhabi and India, “Bang Bang!” is fast faced with car chase, shoot-outs, and all the excitement to make it a real weekend entertainer, promises director Sidharth Anand.
“Haider”, the second film to be released on October 2, is a budget Rs.24 crore film starring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, who is known for transforming Shakespeare’s classics to modern Indian context — Macbeth as “Maqbool”, Othello as “Omkara” and now Hamlet as “Haider”. The film portrays a tragedy that took place in the 1990s in Kashmir and Irrfan Khan and Tabu are the two other attractions.
“’Bang Bang!’ is said to be a Rs.180 crore film, ours is a Rs.24 crore film. Of course, they would need more money to break even, we would need lesser,” Bhardwaj told IANS. “It’s a very big weekend and it can accommodate two films and that’s why we thought of releasing with ‘Bang Bang!’,” he explained.
Moving away from October 2, will be the next Friday on 10 Oct, 2014 which will see release of five films on one day, all of them being budget films, posing no significant threat to the second week run of “Bang Bang”.
