Universal Pictures has taken over the biopic on Apple co-founder Steve Jobs from Sony Pictures half-way due to mounting expenses on the film, said a studio spokesperson.
Attributing it to some sources, hollywoodreporter.com said the project has been acquired for more than $30 million.
Filmmaker Danny Boyle is directing the biopic, the script of which is written by Aaron Sorkin. The main role of steve Jobs is played by Michael Fassbender. The film is co-produced by Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady.
The project was taken up by Sony two years ago after the release of the book by Walter Isaacson titled “Steve Jobs” in 2011. Universal may release the film next year.
