Navdeep Singh and Nikita Goyal are the toppers among boys and girls, both from Punjab in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, results of which were declared by CBSE on Friday, after two weeks of delay.
All boys were among the top except for the eighth rank holders Nikita Goyal and the 11th rank holder is Nishita N. Purohit is also a girl from Gujarat. But overall, boys outshine girls in the NEET 2017 and all the top seven ranks were bagged by them.

The second rank holder Archit Gupta from Madhya Pradesh had also topped the AIIMS entrance examination. The fourth rank holder Sankeerth Sadananda from Bangalore scored 692 or 99.999633 but he is not keen to join the top Delhi colleges.
Out of top 25 rank holders, only nine ranks have been bagged by girls but in the overall ranking, girls outnumbered boys with a total of 3,45,313 girls compared to 2,66,221 boys.
Out of 11,38,890 students who had appeared for the exam, 6,11,539 passed got the ranks for sevveral seats in medical colleges all over the country. About 470 medical colleges are providing 65,170 seats for MBBS while 308 dental colleges are offering 25,730 seats in BDS are available.
However, some toppers from the South who have topped NEET 207 have expressed concerns over the notorious ragging reported in Azad Medical College and other top colleges in the North, which has not been covered in media so far. Even these colleges have failed to stop ragging in hostel rooms during the evenings or nights.
