Tanu Weds Manu Returns: First movie to cross Rs. 150 crore in 2015

Tanu Weds Manu Returns,’ which was released on May 22 has earned a whopping Rs.150.03 crore till date making it the first movie of the year to gross the highest box office returns in 2015 and also the first one to cross the Rs 150 crore mark this year.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the collection of the movie, saying, “#TWMReturns [Week 6] Fri 22 lacs, Sat 36 lacs, Sun 52 lacs, Mon 19 lacs, Tue 18 lacs, Wed 17 lacs, Thu 15 lacs. Total: ₹ 150.03 cr.”

According to the Trade Analyst, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ has become first Bollywood film after garnering appreciation from all quarters.

‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ has been in theatres since its release, continuing its successful run at the box office in its sixth week, the romantic comedy film finallyed made it to the Rs.150 crore.

The news of ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ to become the first movie of 2015 to cross the mark has been confirmed from other markets too.

The film was directed by Ananda L. Rai and the cast included Kangana Ranaut and R.Madhavan in the main lead roles. Other supporting actors are Jimmy Shergill, Deepak Dobriyal and Swara Bhaskar.

Attracting the middle class, Kangana’s ‘swagger’ in a double role coupled with usual R. Madhavan’s friendly nature and Deepak Dobriyal’s wit made the movie a hit at the box office, while it is the only movie to get good reviews in the media in a long time.

Focussing on the rediscovery of love between a married couple, the film has in supporting cast actors like Jimmy Sheirgill and Swara Bhaskar.
