Versatile actress Sridevi Kapoor, popularly known as Sridevi is in news for her upcoming Tamil fantasy adventure film “Puli” starring Vijay but the brouhaha has been cut short with the actress refusing to take up dubbing for the film.
Sridevi is playing a queen ‘Saumya Devi’ the Tamil film ‘Puli’ and she had reportedly refused the iconic role of Sivagami, played by Ramya Krishna in the latest historic blockbuster film ‘Baahubali’ apparently because she had thought that Queen Soumya Devi role would bring huge recognition.
But, Sridevi was in shock after realising that her role has been cut short after editing of the film, when she went to dub for her role. She got angry and left without dubbing, said sources familiar with the studio in Chennai where the post-production is currently underway.
According to sources, the actress called Director and Producers of the film and questioned about the cuts. When actress was restless after director said that they decided to cut because the movie was too long and they were forced to reduce her role.
Directed by Chimbudevan and produced by PT Selvakumar and Shibu Thameens, the film features Vijay, Shruti Haasan, Hansika Motwani, Sridevi and Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep. Sridevi is returning to Tamil films with ‘Puli’ after almost three decades of hiatus.
The film ‘Puli’ was supposed to be released on September 17 and Sridevi’s exit from the dubbing may delay the release of the film unless the producers decide to go for a dubbing artist instead of Sridevi giving the voice herself.
