Shahid Kapoor who is all set to make his small screen debut has come up with a new demand for the reality dance show JDJ 8.
The actor wanted to have a perfect debut and that he wanted the East India Comedy to write the show. However, the EIC team turned down his offer. Shahid and EIC share a good rapport and have in fact worked together earlier for the International Indian Film Academy Awards.
Bollywood Life quoted a source, who said, “Shahid was keen on working with East India Comedy for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as well. He hasn’t directly approached them, however channel (Colors) tried their best to persuade EIC who turned down the offer citing issues. EIC is known for a certain kind of comedy, which they felt did not fit Indian television viewing and hence did not accept this offer.”
We also spoke to EIC team member, Azeem Banatwalla, who confirmed that they were approached by Colors, but could not take it up as they had too much work on their platter and also felt that the ‘platform’ did not work for them.
Shahid Kapoor is considered in place of Madhuri Dixit, who judged the show for seven years. Shahid will soon be tying knots with Delhi girl Mira Rajput. Along with Shahid, even Karan Johar and Ganesh Hegde will be judging the show.
The dance show pairs celebrity contestants with their choreographer partner to showcase some mermerising acts on screen. The upcoming eighth season of ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ will feature celebrities like Shamita Shetty, Raftaar, Vivian Dsena, Radhika Madan, Kavita Kaushik, Sanaya Irani, Deepika Samson, Ashish Chowdhry, Mohit Malik, Scarlett Mellish Wilson and Faisal Khan. The show is expected to go on air in July 2015.
