Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ Gets Positive Reviews, Rs.20-Cr Likely on Day 1 Box Office Collections

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ with him playing in dual role made a big splash on screens with close-to-reality storyline and earning more than Rs.20 crore, according to initial estimates.

The morning show began with an average 45-50% occupancy across India, picking up by evening show based on word-of-mouth opinion. The number of screens the film was released was far above than expected at 4,600 screens, which means more money for the producers in its first week.

The storyline is about an actor and his ardent fan. The fan goes to the extent of causing harm to those who destroy the image of his idol but gets shcoked when his master admonishes him in the public and distances from him.

It was an old story in new bottle but being a Shah Rukh Khan’s film and showing SRK in a negative role after almost a decade, the film is sure to enthrall his fans and admirers alike.

Among noteworthy reactions are Siddhartha Basu’s summary of the film in a crisp manner: “The biggest thrill of FAN will be to see SRK unmask the actor beneath the superstar, in a rare confrontation between fandom & stardom.”
