Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram – the mystic trinity in Hinduism, which reflects satyam, the truth; shivam, the divine; and sundram, the beauty. We have seen truth and beauty ascending the tech world when Microsoft chose Indian-origin techie Satya Nadella as its CEO last year and Google announcing Sundaram Pichai as the new CEO, while the world is waiting in the wings for a possible “Shiv”.
Once we have some Shiv heading another tech major, the trinity will be full and perhaps the miracle of tech takeover of the world will come true.
Now that Google has announced IIT-Kharagpur alumnus Sundaram Pichai as its new CEO, a post held dearly by founders for long but for a brief period when it was held by another luminary Eric schmidt, the trinity has been two-thirds full, and he void is waiting for Shiv. Who will fill the role and where is the next big question for the tech world.
Since Microsoft and Google are unequivocally the biggest tech entities in the world, the next in line will be either Facebook or Oracle. But Facebook has no Indian in any of its boards and its founder CEO Mark Zuckerberg is known for his possessive mindset about the entity he created from the start. so, Facebook is ruled out. So is the case with Oracle, which is highly American-dominated.
So, who will fill the gap of Shivam in the trinity?
Will Shiv Nadar, founder and chairman of HCL fill the gap. But to be global, HCL has a long way to go, though wealthwise, he owns an estimated at $13.7 Billion as of 2015. To be on par with Satyam and Sundaram, with shiv Nadar should grow to global status or another Shiv should come from the tech community to fill the void. Let’s hope it comes true and give your views!
