Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will be launched in India on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, said the company in a tweet.
“India, get ready to #UnboxYourPhone! Samsung #GalaxyS8 #GalaxyS8Plus, India launch on 19th April, 2017,” said the Tweet by Samsung without revealing any details, least of it about the price in India. Reportedly codenamed Cruiser, it was rumoured to have an active key.
The pre-registration for both variants is opened already available online on Flipkart and other e-commerce websites.
The model to be launched in India is expected to sport the Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC instead of the standard Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. The Samsung chip is slated to have outperformed Qualcomm variant in US.
Active variants of Samsung Galaxy S flagships usually have larger batteries, and codenaming it Cruiser, the company is hoping that the battery life would be longer.
Coming to ruggedness, the Galaxy S8 Active is expected to replace standard sleek and beautiful design of its predecessors. MIL-STD-810G standard compliance and IP68 certification are likely to be incorporated given to understanding that the S8 Active will have an Active key and the Bixby button.
Another feature is that Active line will no longer be AT&T exclusive with the launch of Galaxy S8 Active phones in India on Wednesday. Also it is going to be totally waterproof (not resistant), sporting a gearVR support.
