Salman Khan film “Kick” has overtaken last year megahit film “Chennai Express” by Shahrukh Khan in terms of box office collections grossing Rs.223.94 crore in domestic market and equally impressive Rs.67.34 crore in overseas markets.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: “OVERSEAS: #Kick total *after Weekend 3*: approx $ 11 million + [Rs 67.34 cr+]. Salman Khan’s HIGHEST GROSSER in intl markets.”
In its third week, Kick collected Rs.1.97 crore on 3rd Friday, followed by Saturday’s Rs.2.94 crore and Sunday’s Rs.3.92 crore, totaling Rs.223.94 crore net in India alone.
Meanwhile, the film which was released on Ramadan coincided with “Chennai Express” that was also released last on Ramadan, attracting the holiday mood set in the country among the Muslims after the Ramzan fasting.
Kick, released on July 25, 2014 grossed box office collections of Rs.164.09 crore in its first week but surpassed the first two weeks’ record collections of SRK film “Chennai Express” released on Ramzan last year with over Rs.225.63 in its thrid week.
Otherwise, “Chennai Express” was the highest grossing Bollywood film in India and abroad, collecting Rs.395 crore in one year, crossing Aamir Khan’s film “3 Idiots” record at Rs.392 crore.
