Spice Mobility launches MI-350 Android Smartphone in Pune

S. Mobility, an Indian mobile internet company of the Spice group, has launched a 3G & 2G Dual Sim Android smartphone Mi-350 in Pune.

Powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread, it claims a powerful battery backup that lasts up to 7 days. Mi-350 is powered by a 650MHz Turbo Processor and is loaded with features like Google task bar & Facebook. With a 3.5 inch screen, the Mi-350 is priced at Rs. 9,999 ($199).

With 480 x 320 pixel resolution and a 5 mega-pixel camera, the device will come equipped with 512 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM and other stock features like GPS, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, gravity and proximity sensor.

In order to increase its retail penetration in the rest of state, S Mobility plans to open Spice HotSpot retail outlets in each of the districts in Maharashtra by 2013. Currently, S Mobility, which entered the Pune Market in 2005, has a market share of 6 percent. It has 50,000 retail points including the 750+ Spice HotSpot retail network across India and 5,000 leading stores in Maharashtra.

Zulfi Ali Bhutto,  Associate Vice President of S. Mobility, said “We see the future of telephony in what we have termed ‘Mobile Internet’. It is a revolutionary phenomenon which will help bridge the digital divide and give users an ‘always on’ access. And we see Mobile Internet devices like Mi-350 to be the 1st pc for many Indians.”

S Mobility is part of the Spice Group, which boasts of a customer base of over 15 million and an annual volume of over 6 million devices.
