Xiaomi knows how to keep media on tenterhooks with its so-called leaks and brief online listings to be pulled sown soon. It makes media go crazy looking for the missed content and so is the branding value for the upcoming product.
On Friday, Xiaomi China website Mi.com briefly listed its upcoming ‘unannounced’ Redmi Pro 2 smartphone with a price tag of CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 11,500) and promptly removed it once the desired media grab was achieved. Soon, it has made the news and as usual Xiaomi is always in the news.
Spotted by GizmoChina, the brief listing is a teaser and it may indicate that the Xiaomi Redmi Pro is ready for release soon in the Chinese market.
Since it was there briefly, some media hawks are able to capture the key specs instantly such as 5.5-inch OLED display, Snapdragon 660 SoC, 4100mAh battery, and a 16-megapixel rear camera. It means, Xiaomi is deviating from using the MediaTek Helio processors and opting for a Snapdragon processor.
It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi Redmi Pro features such as the deca-core MediaTek Helio X25 SoC coupled with Mali-T880 GPU and 4GB RAM will be there in the new model of Redmi Pro or not.
