Xiaomi is set to repeat its flash sale of Redmi Note, echoing similar sale strategy of its previous devices Mi3 and Redmi 1S in India on Flipkart for those who register for the online sale saga early.
On Tuesday, the company’s global vice president Hugo Barra was quick to snap the Twitter saying that “Redmi Note out of stock in 6 secs today!”.
The Redmi Note priced Rs.8,999 and the Redmi Note 4G priced Rs.9,999 will also be available in Airtel stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad only for those customers who pre-register online.
In addition, the company said it is fast moving in the direction of setting up more than 100 service centres across the country in few months’ time and possibly replace Flipkart as the online sales partner with its own.
Otherwise, Xiaomi has created ad blitz including an online contest for design for Redmi Note launch in India on its Facebook page invited from people the best design possible for the phone. The next one included an invite sent to the launch event and on Nov. 24, the company showcased both the Xiaomi Redni Note and the Redmi Note 4G phablets.
Redmi Note, with dual-SIM support, has a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MTK6592 SoC featuring a Mali-450MP4 GPU and it is one of the first tablets with 3GB RAM, though runs on old Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 tweaked for its own Xiaomi’s MIUI. Its 4G variant runs on a quad-core 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU coupled with 2GB of RAM and has Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS with MIUI v5 skin. Xiaomi said it would facilitate updates to the latest Android 5 Lollipop in the future.
Most of the specs in both the Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G are similar in terms of display at 5.5-inch 720×1280-pixel IPS LCD screens and 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera and LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies.
