Though a Telugu director, few knew that Director SS Rajamouli was born in Raichur, part of Karnataka, though his native place is Kovvur in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
Now that his film “Baahubali: The Conclusion” has made tremendous success, Rajamouli visited a Ballari theatre where he watched the film and later donated Rs 6 lakh to Ballari Deputy Commissioner for cleanliness activities in Ballari, which has huge Telugu speaking population in Karnataka and also forms one of the Ceded Districts for release of Telugu films.
Later, he went to visit Mantralayam in Kurnool district of AP with his family members. His film faced near ban in Karnataka when pro-Kannada activists demanded its ban in the state and planned protests on the date of its release citing Kattappa (Sathyajit) remarks nine years ago on Cauvery water issue.
However, the issue was settled amicably when the actor tendered his apology through a video and the activists’ leader Nagaraj accepted it and allowed for the release of the film without any protests.
Released on April 28, the film Baahubali 2 went on smashing box-office records in the country and as per the latest trade figures, “Baahubali: The conclusion” has grossed Rs.1,450 crore on its third week, the Hindi version touching the magic figure of Rs 500 crore.
