President Pranab Mukherjee Condoles Deaths in Bengal, Manipur Floods

Following heavy death toll in West Bengal and Manipur, President Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the loss of lives due to Cyclone ‘Komen’ in West Bengal and floods in certain areas of Bihar, Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

In individual messages sent to the Governors of West Bengal, Bihar, Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the President said “I am saddened to learn about the loss of lives, injuries and damage to property caused by the Cyclone/floods in certain areas of the State.

“Please convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish speedy recovery to the injured persons”, he said in his message over the loss of lives in Chandel district of Manipur.

In his message to Dr. Syed Ahmed, the Governor of Manipur, the President has said “I am sad to learn about the landslides triggered by heavy rains in Chandel district of Manipur, which has resulted in the loss of a number of lives and injuries as well as damage to property. I understand some people are missing and thousands have been rendered homeless. Rescue as well as relief operations are currently underway.”
