Salman Khan-starrer family drama ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has remained on top as it finished the second weekend and at Rs.193.22 crore as of the second weekend and registered Rs.200 crore in 12 days to be precise. Thugh the English film ‘The Spectre’ from James Bond series was released this week giving a tough competition to PDPO in its second week, analysts were upbeat about its success.
The film has been doing well in on word-of-mouth and is still on top position in terms of Bollywood’s most-watched film this month. Its performance in Tier II and III cities has remained encouraging, said producers.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:“#PremRatanDhanPayo is nearing Rs 200 cr [Week 2] Fri 5.50 cr, Sat 6.70 cr, Sun 8.20 cr. Total: Rs 193.22 cr. Hindi version. India biz.”
The film is likely to cross Salman Khan’s earlier record with "Kick" once it crosses Rs.200-crore mark today, despite 80 percent decline in its revenue in the second weekend owing to ‘Spectre’, South Indian films "Kumari 21F" and "Cheekati Rajyam".
Salman Khan’s last film "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has remained the all time highest grosser in its second weekend but "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has failed to match the expectations. Barring the collections of uncomparable’Bahubali’, PDPO has still fallen far behind the Hindi films of noticeable success in recent past such as Shah Rukh Khan’s "Happy New Year" or Aamir Khan’s "PK".
