Another Amitabh Bachchan-starrer ‘Piku’ with Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan in lead roles will hit screens tomorrow, Friday (May 8) with a storyline revolving around father and daughter with sentiments running high and low.
While this is second such film by Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in similar roles after “Aarakshan”, the daughter, whose nickname is Piku playing the role of a Bengali girl working as an architect in Delhi.
The movie can be expected to be a hi-fi drama with strong players like Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan coming together to beat each other in terms of their skills and portrayals.
Unlike his earlier films, Irrfan Khan is seen in different role as per the reports and hints from the cast and crew of the film but the actor can fit in any role with ease.
Bringing these three together is an ardent task that the movie director Shoojit Sircar has attempted with high risk and the results will be out tomorrow after the first show. But with ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Madras Cafe’ behind him, Sircar is way above to direct senior artists in the film.
Amitabh Bachchan in 90-year-old father should come as a surprise but the character of Bhashkor Banerjee, perhaps, redeems Big B’s love for his in-laws from Bengal and the Bengali culture where he worked in his entry level job five decades ago.
More than anything, Bengalis may love the film as it portrays their daily lifestyle and Kolkata backdrop in every other scene in the film.
