Chinese handset maker Oppo is aiming at releasing future smartphones exclusively for the Indian market, which it says is a key strategic market for the company, and it is enlisting the support of e-commerce gaints Flipkart and Amazon for online sales.
“In our global expansion, India is no doubt one of the key strategic markets. Right now, we are retailing in over 20 major cities and regions, mainly through multi-brand chains,” Oppo India CEO Tom Lu said while launching Oppo N3 and Oppo R5 in Singapore recently.
Priced $649, the Oppo N3 has unique automated swivel camera beating all other rivals in bringing out this new feature to smartphones but priced within the medium range of smartphones. The other smartphone Oppo R5 is the world’s thinnest smartphone measuring 4.85mm in width, with a price tag of $499, which is again placed in the medium range.
Focusing on the fast emerging Indian market, Tom Lu said both the smartphones will be launched in India in December and the talks with Flipkart and other e-commerce platforms will be formalized by then.
Tom said the company will have its own showrooms across India next year and hopes to develop 4,000 sales points and also plan India-centric models soon. So far, Oppo has released 10 smartphone models in India.
Oppo N3 vs R5: Features & Specs:
Besides featuring the much-loved swivel camera feature, the N3 can capture pictures in 360-degree mode with multi-angle, wide-angle and panaromic features. “With 206° of rotation, the OPPO N3 invites the world to adjust their focus, tilt the camera and open up a new chapter in visual lifestyle,” said the company on its website.
The N3 has a 16 megapixel camera that can take high-resolution images, with unique target-tracking focus shift function with the camera automatically modifying its angle to follow the moving target, he said.
The R5, on the contrary, uses a phase-change material that keeps it at a constant cool temperature while maintaining functionality. It lets you shoot with a maximum focus time of 0.18 seconds and delivers 50 megapixel, high-def picture clarity, said the company.
“The R5, like the rest of the R series smartphones, delivers a truly stylish, exquisite and distinctive design and will continue to delight our customers with its innovative yet practical functions,” said Li.
In addition to add to its user-friendly functionalities, the R5 also includes OPPO’s mini rapid charging system, where a 30-minute charge will provide 75 percent battery life and a five-minute charge will allow for a two-hour call.
Both smartphones will be available soon in Australia, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the UAE, Vietnam and China.
