OnePlus Gets Stay from Delhi High Court, to Resume Sales Online

OnePlus has managed to get a stay from the Delhi High Court on the sale ban of its OnePlus One phones introduced into the market on December 2 with Cyanogen software, whose sole rights were sold to Micromax in India.

OnePlus One was introduced in India early this month with a price tag of Rs.22,000 amid many positive reviews but MicroMax moved the court over patent rights and sole jurisdiction to sell Cyanogen-based smartphones in India. It said OnePlus One will challenge its Yu Yureka Cyanogen phones with a price-tag of Rs.8,999.

However, pending the next hearing in January, the ban imposed on December 16 now stands lifted and the device maker was allowed to resume its sales in India, which are sold online exclusively on Amazon India. Initially, the sale strategy was similar to Xiaomi, anohter Chinese phone-maker’s model.

OnePlus has kicked off its sale online with invitation only basis initially but returned to direct sale online for buyers. On Cyanogen, the company has made it clear that the updates will not be available over the air (OTA) but promised to provide updates with a chain of stores to be set up in the country.

OnePlus has also said its Android team is working on exclusive software, which will be open to all its buyers next March.

The features are considerably far superior than Xiaomi phones and it is the first 3GB RAM phone unveiled in India with 5.5 1080×1920 pixel resolution display, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It sports superior quality Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with a quad-core 2.5 GHz processor with Adreno 330 GPU.

Its impressive 13 MP rear camera with a six-lens array and f/2.0 aperture of quick shutter at the speed of 0.3-seconds has been given thumbs up by reviewers though the handset is not good to shoot videos while walking. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat version with a 3GB RAM and a fixed 16 GB or 64 GB with no privision for microSD card, perhaps the manufacturer’s assumption that no one needs memory beyond this currently.

Its connectivity features include 4G LTE, if applicable or 3 GB, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. The battery is also a non-removable one with 3,100mAh capacity.
