Odisha increases Govt college seats by 20%

Odisha has increased seats by 20 percent in all government colleges from the current academic year 2015-16 onwards.

Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahi on Wednesday said the state government has taken an in-principle decision, which means about one lakh more seats in +2 and +3 colleges will be available, said Panigrahi.

The minister said it would help the students who seek admission to higher education in government colleges, in view of higher pass percentage in this year’s matriculation examination.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to offer Bachelor of Education and Master of Education courses in 29 government colleges and 6 universities in Odisha from 2016-17 to cater the shortage of trained teachers in the state.
