With the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals suspended for two years, their captains found new home on Tuesday when newly formed IPL teams Pune and Rajkot picked them up respectively for a huge reserve amount.
The Pune team owned by Sanjeev Goenka picked up Mahendra Singh Dhoni first for the stipulated price of Rs. 12.5 crore and his India teammate Suresh Raina was picked by the Rajkot team. “Excited to play for the beautiful vibrant city- Rajkot in @IPL. Looking forward to have new teammates and support from the people of Gujarat,” said Raina in a tweet.
Batsman Ajinkya Rahane was the second choice for Pune, while Rajkot opted for Ravindra Jadeja and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was picked by Pune as the third choice. New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum was Rajkot’s choice.
