As a rain flawed one-off Test match between India and Pakistan came to an end in a draw, Indian team director Ravi Shastri organized a “Team Dinner” for the entire Test team on Sunday for putting up a good show.
In a test match that saw Harbhajan Singh surpass Pakistan’s Wasin Akram’s record to become the 9th highest Test wicket takers of all-time, Virat Kohli proved his worth to be a good captain as well.
A source close to Team Blue told PTI that the Shastri took “special initiative” to arrange the dinner for his team as a celebration of their “moral victory” over a team who were “never in the match.” The dinner was held in Gulshan area in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka.
India’s tour of Bangladesh will now enter the ODI format with four matches waiting. It will see the return of Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the team’s captain along with some other players.
The source also told PTI that owing to Harbhajan Singh and Wriddhiman Saha’s departure from the squad, Shastri hosted the dinner.
High anticipations have been making rounds of Shastri becoming Team India’s new coach as well. However, nothing has been decided yet as Sourav Ganguly who is now a member of BCCI’s advisory committee has eclined to give confirmation on Shastri’s term as the team director even.
If at all Shastri does take responsibilities from Duncan Fletcher he’ll become the world highest paid cricket coach with 7 crores per year.
In our earlier report it was said that permanent Test skipper, Virat Kohli has termed Shastri to be someone who doesn’t “shy away from responsibility.”
