Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter followers number has crossed 8-million mark today reached now has over 8 million followers on Twitter and is only behind US President Barack Obama and the Pope in popularity on the micro blogging site.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) today crossed the 8 million follower mark on Twitter,” the micro-blogging website said in a statement. The twitter account has recorded more than 1 lakh new visitors in the last two days and going by the rate, it should cross 10 million soon.
Otherwise, Modi’s personal Twitter account has 8.01 million as of Tuesday and he has put out 6,355 tweets so far. He follows more than one thousand, 1,053 to be precise as of today, November 19, 2014.
Twitter said Modi’s account doubled since his election in May this year and his election victory Tweet remains the most re-tweeted tweet of all time in India with 70,586 tweets, said Twitter.
Narendra Modi has become the first Prime Minister across the world to take a “Twitter Mirror” on tour with him, Twitter said. The Twitter Mirror is a backstage photo-booth for private messages and exclusive moments involving celebrities about their live events.
