Microsoft Quietly Ditches Bitcoin

More than a year after allowing people to pay money into their accounts using bitcoins, Microsoft has quetly removed the Bitcoin, the virtual currency, top up option saying it is no longer redeemable.

Microsoft note said:“You can no longer redeem bitcoin into your Microsoft account. Existing balances in your account will still be available for purchases from Microsoft Store, but can’t be refunded.”

The move affects both Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile, and users cannot buy games, music and other stuff using their Bitcoin balance. One reason attributed was that Bitcoin failed to elicit response in a wider region across geographical boundaries and Microsoft products were never made available for Bitcoin payments.

Bitcoin currently trades at around $415 each though there is no volatility in its rating but questions on its future remained glaringly apparent.
