Xiaomi won accolades not merely from the media but now from the Guinness world record for selling most mobile phones in a single day at 2.11 million units, surpassing the Alibaba record in the category “most mobile phones sold on a single online platform in 24 hours.”
Alibaba sold on its TMall online site in China, multiple mobile phones including Xiaomi totaling 1.9 million handsets on Nov. 11, 2014. Xiaomi said on its Facebook page that it sold 2.11 million handsets as part of its Mi Fan Fest celebrations for its fifth anniversary on .
Putting together all Xiaomi sales worldwide, especially in China, India and Indonesia makes it the highest and coincided with the special occasions, it is not new that the mobile phone giant, which ranks third in the world is bound to set new record of maximum one-day sales online.
While the record so far for Xiaomi was 2.11 million smartphones is not amazing, the fact is that Xiaomi still faced several supply-side problems in India, and even halted the sale of some brands over patent rows. However, it has expanded its online flash sale platform from single Flipkart website to Amazon, Snapdeal and an offline route via The Mobile Store too now.
