Medical Bulletin of Lance Naik Hanamanthappa that was released by the Army as on 11 Feb 2016 at 0800 hours in the morning said:
"Braveheart Lance Naik Hanamanthappa continues to remain extremely critical with worsening multiple organ dysfunction. His circulatory shock is now refractory to all drugs in maximum permissible doses and his kidneys remain non-functional.
His pneumonia has worsened and the blood clotting disorder shows no sign of reversal despite blood component support. He is on maximal clotting disorder shows no sign of reversal despite blood component support. He is on maximal life support with aggressive ventilation and dialysis. He has slipped into a deeper state of coma."
The sordid statement released by Army PRO Col Rohan Anand is almost a death certificate on the fighting soldier despite the best treatment provided by the team of Army Hospital (R&R) comprising of Critical Care specialists, HoD Dept of Medicine, Senior Nephrologist and the Senior Neurologist and a panel of experts from AIIMS New Delhi.
Earlier, his brain CT scan showed pneumonia in both lungs and his multi-organ dysfunction continued unabated. "His condition has deteriorated despite aggressive therapy and supportive care," said earlier medical bulletin and the latest one virtually sealed off the hopes of his recovery.
His condition is reminiscent of similar situation faced by Safdarjung Hospital team when Nirbhaya (name changed) was admitted with similar deterioration of multi-organs in mid-December and later airlifted to Singapore only to be brought back dead, despite the entire nation’s pray for her recovery.
