Manchester United is negotiating withdrawal of £42 million deal to sign Arturo Vidal, the Juventus mid-fielder who had his knee injury aggravated last week to serious one.
The 27-year-old Chilean midfielder for the World Cup in Brazil this year was slated to join the Manchester United heating up the transfer season but the deal collapsed at the lat minute.
Vidal is currently playing friendly matches against Mexico and Haiti but his injury news during the workouts while training has sent the shivers down the Man Utd to withdraw the deal and save the huge amount.
More than that the Juventus, which is chasing a consecutive fourth Serie A title this season, will be in trouble as it has already lost its major player Andre Pirlo for over a month.
Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal, who is under attack for being slow during the transfer window and for signing Daley Blind in the place of legend Paul Scholes. With a considerably weak defense line, Van Gaal can claim credit for not signing Vidal in desperation now.
Van Gaal is known for his substitution tricks and long formulations but remained sluggish during the transfer window. Unless he gets his first premier league game win, he will be under scrutiny and Manchester United is learnt to have hit upon the idea of luring enigmatic German Jurgen Klopp, whose contract expires in the summer of 2018, to replace Van Gaal one day.
