Akkineni family drama ‘Manam’ that was opened in USA with a phenomenal start created a record in box office collections too grossing $91,484 (Rs.53.45 lakhs) in its premiere shown in 69 screens, with many more screens still to report earnings.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said in a tweet that ‘Manam’ has “taken a phenomenal start in USA.” In his earlier tweet, he said the film’s grand premiere was opened in Hyderabad on Thursday night for Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s fans, hosted by Nagarjuna and his son Naga Chaitanya. It was released in more than 100 screens in North America, he noted.

Early unverified reports said the first day box office collections both in India and abroad total Rs.9 crore. Taran Adarsh tweeted on Saturday that the film crossed Rs.91 lakhs in Nizam area, 39 lakhs in Ceded districts and 22 lakhs in Vizag and 18 lakhs in Guntur.

The film made with an estimated Rs.15 crore, is set to break the records of even “Race Gurram” that was a big hit recently.
Due to the star value of three generations of Akkineni family — Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya — has seen more than 35% occupancy n its opening day on Friday and is set to go full during the weekend in both Andhra Pradesh and in North America, where Telugu population is highly concentrated.
