XUV500, a sports utility vehicle limited edition, was launched on Monday by Mahindra & Mahindra priced at Rs 14.48 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) with some exclusive features such as electric sunroof, reverse camera and voice messaging system.
Speaking at launch, Mahindra & Mahindra chief marketing officer Vivek Nayer said the new model XUV500 is remodelled based on customers’ feedback and that it should be successful.
“The XUV500 Xclusive Edition will create a new benchmark in premiumness and exclusivity, to further enhance the XUV500’s appeal amongst its customers and fans,” said Nayer.
The XUV500 Xclusive Edition will be available as the W8 model of the XUV500 that was released last year and the company said it would produce only 700 new vehicles of the limited edition.
Other features of XUV500 include driver information system, fully automatic temperature control and six airbags.
The original XUV500 was launched in 2011 and the design was inspired by fastest land animal, the cheetah, according to the company. It is the first monocoque chassis the company has made for the vehicle. The company sold 35,000 XUV500s in its first year.
Mahindra’s XUV 500 secured first place in the 2010 Desert Storm Rally, India’s toughest tests for cars, as the vehicle clocked the fastest time in three sections of the rally.
