Liverpool vs Arsenal
Venue – Anfield
Date – 21st December 2014
Time – 9:30 PM IST
With five points and six places in between them, Liverpool and Arsenal face one another in gameweek 17’s high profile clash at Anfield. The Kops have had a season to forget this year losing their footing in the Barclays Premier League on more than one occasion. They have quite not recovered from a recent string of losses that currently sees them in the Eleventh position.
Last week’s 3-0 loss to old foes Manchester United and an uncanny exit from the Champions League will certainly not do much to boost a fading confidence for Rodgers and his side. His neck now seems to be on the line and he will have to re think his plans getting into a home fixture with an equally unpredictable Arsenal side.
Wenger and his boys find themselves in a bit of a soup at the moment. They are currently lurking around in the sixth place (near their desired champions league spot) thanks to a 4-1 routing of Newcastle last week. They are tasting success at the Europe no doubt, but it is their Premier League form that will worry Wenger. They have picked up only 9 points from an available 18 which also includes unexpected losses to Stoke and Swansea. They have to pick up from where they left last week and look to seal the top 4 spot before the competition becomes narrower.

Key factors in the match:
Fragile defense that Arsenal possesses will serve like an invitation for Liverpool attackers Sterling and Lambert, who will look to overturn the fortune of their sides. The absence of Suarez is still felt at Anfield and Lambert has been far away from delivering the goods.
With Ozil, Sanchez and Carzola at his disposal, French striker Olivier Giroud is making the most of his time at Arsenal. The wily striker has netted 4 goals this season including two last week against Newcastle. He will look to cement his spot in the starting X1 for the Gunners.
