JNU Students Union leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who was barred from entering the campus of Hyderabad central University, on Wednesday reached the campus despite all gates closed except the main gate. While police decided not to stop him from entering the campus at the last minute, the student leader entered the campus and was welcomed by students.
Hyderabad Central University said earlier that it had banned permission to JNU students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar to address a meeting on the campus. HCU Vice Chancellor Prof Appa Rao Podile said, "No body has approached for permission. Definitely, there is no permission."
Kumar will address a meeting on the campus later in the evening on behalf of the Dalit students who are agitating against the VC for the suicide of Rohith Vemula.The Joint Action Committee for Social Justice is agitating for justice to Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula, who committed suicide in a hostel room at HCU on January 17.
