Juventus reached the UEFA Champion’s League final after 20 years, defeating Spanish giants Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
The Italian champions continue to be the cause of heartbreak for Real Madrid as their German midfielder; Sami Khedira is all set to move to Italy after signing a new contract with Juventus.
The 28-year-old who won the World Cup last year with Germany was due to finish his term with Real Madrid on June 30. He signed a four-year deal with Juventus on free transfer – this year’s runner-up to Barcelona in Champion’s League.
“Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri is set to add a player of class, quality and international experience to his ranks, ready to enrich one of the strongest midfields in world football,” Juventus said on their official website.
Khedira who spent two entire seasons at Real Madrid, had become a regular at the reservation bench. He was allowed only three starts at the Spanish club last season contrary to earlier times of his career when he made starts in almost every match and had great coordination with Madrid’s ace player – Cristiano Ronaldo.
He even starred in last year’s Champion’s League final that went to Real Madrid’s side for a historic 10th time after the Spanish giants defeated their rival, Atletico Madrid.
In a report by Mirror, Khedira drove aside any claims of money playing a “role” in his move to Juventus.
He said that it “hurts” him that such claims are making rounds. “You cannot blame me of acting in an unfair or wrong way,” he added in the report.
He confirmed that Real Madrid put a “huge contract” before him in which he could have “eventually won more.” But he also emphasized his point that money didn’t play any part. “My decision to leave Real Madrid was not about money,” he added.

He stated that he told his advisor, Jörg Neubauer who is “the biggest fan of Real Madrid,” that he “wanted a change.” He added, “I was tired, because in the end it was all extremely stressful. However, I have to say they were five fantastic years.”
Khedira moved to Real Madrid from Stuttgart in 2010 for 14 million Euros and made 28 appearances with the club.
The last season of his career in Madrid was filled with injuries as he missed six months after his cruciate ligament tore off. He missed as many as 19 matches.
Sami Khedira’s move to Juventus will be good for him especially after the attention Gareth Bale has been getting since Real Madrid bought him for 100 million Euros – a world record.
