Los Angeles, Oct 16: Pop star Lady Gaga says she had "awful" experiences with men trying to take "advantage of" her sexually when she started her career, becoming the second-most top singer to complain after Madonna revealed her similar tryst with fame.
The world famous singer had tough time to ward off from advances of men when she was trying to establish herself in the industry. She said she is speaking out now so other young singers know about the darker side of the industry.
In an interview in the Times (UK) newspaper, she said: "I’ve had really awful experiences with men in the studio. Made me very uncomfortable. I didn’t feel like I was being cherished for my vocal talents but was seen more as someone to take advantage of."
When questioned whether the advances were of sexual, she said: "Yes. And I don’t have to elaborate, but when women who are in the business that are young read this article I hope (they) do not have to put up with that.
Lady Gaga, who is currently on her ‘ArtRave: The Artpop Ball’ tour, said, "I hope to be an inspiration that if you’re talented enough, you can work hard and achieve your dreams."
Recent reports are an indication that Lady Gaga is changing her tone and giving more candid interviews of late. The pop star recently stepped out in a revealing leather bikini and a jacket to pull off a promotional stunt for her new album last month.
Wearing dark glasses, Gaga departed from her hotel in Athens wearing super-high stiletto leather boots with a leather jacket emblazoned with the hashtag #CheektoCheek to put up posters of her new album.
When she entered a local record store sticking up a huge poster of her new album, set for release Sep 23, on the shop window, several eye brows were raised. Next she posted a snap of herself on Instagram saying: "So I did some good old fashion (sic) street team promo on my own, hope they love it!"
This was entirely in contrast to what she wore just feww days before. Lady Gaga opted for a feminine look when she stepped out in an oriental gown in Brussels during her ArtRave tour.
The 38-year-old paired up her Japanese geisha look with a long full-sleeved gown as she left her hotel. The olive green ensemble featured an exotic flower pattern, which she complemented with a bold eye-liner design. The "Applause" hitmaker chose a slick, straight hair styled into a fringed bob.
The tour, promoting her latest pop offering “ARTPOP”, will end in November.
