Ranveer Singh’s “Kill Dil” released on Friday, November 14 coinciding with the Children’s Day with a beneficial extended holiday season grossed only Rs. 6.83 crore on its opening day and Rs.7.1 crore on its second day, totalling Rs.13.95 crore, reports said.
Directed by Shaad Ali, “Kill Dil” was released in more than 2000 screens worldwide but the opening day collections were just average for the film, while the early box office reports from several areas in India show that there is a 10% decline in some pockets like Rajasthan, which otherwise could have boosted the weekend collections of the film.
Apart from Delhi, other areas like Rajastan reported Rs.33 lakhs on its second day, a trend that may reflect in other areas unless competition from the regional films is not there.
Besides Ranveer singh, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Fazal are featured in the film but the main attraction is Govinda in a villain’s role setting his future change of career. Produced by Aditya Chopra, the film failed its expectations despite high publicity drama that preceded its mega-release.
More than the first day collections, the decline is visibly attributed to the negative reviews in media but it is not the only film in the category of critical reviews, of late. Another factor in the film is Ranveer Singh, whose last film “Gunday” did very well at the box office with the opening day collections at Rs.16.1 crore.
While Koimoi has put the opening day collections of “Kill Dil” at Rs.6.85 crore, Bollywood Hungama figure was at Rs.6.53 crore. “It performed below average in Mumbai, Delhi, and metro cities too,” said a report in Koimoi.
