The huge success of Vijay-starrer Tamil film “Kaththi”, which raked in over Rs.30 crore in the opening weekend, has driven Telugu producers to vie for remake rights in Telugu language, while some have already touted Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan as the hero.
“Several producers have expressed interest to remake ‘Kaththi’ in Telugu. Pawan Kalyan is the top contender in the list of actors to play the lead in the remake. But the makers of the original haven’t yet sold the remake rights,” a source close to producers of “Kaththi” told IANS.
But Tamil actor and hero of the film Vijay is not keen with the idea of a remake, but wants “Kaththi” to be dubbed and released in Telugu. “Vijay sir was really not keen about remake. He wanted the dubbed Telugu version to be released,” he said.
Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, “Kaththi” features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead roles. Vijay wants to enter the Telugu industry the way Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan do, releasing their films in Telugu and Hindi at the same time than selling the rights for Telugu re-makes.
