Karnataka PU Fails to Stop Leak of Even Re-Test Chemistry Question Paper

Ironic but Karnataka Pre-University Board has failed to maintain secrecy over its PUC or Class 12 Chemistry Question paper for re-test as the first one was leaked. The bizarre scenario came to the notice of the Board director Pallavi Akurthi when police alerted her about the leakage on March 31, just a day before the exam.

The II PU chemistry re-exam scheduled today, Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 9am has been cancelled by the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) for the second time in the same month.

Originally scheduled on March 21, Chemistry paper was cancelled after a student alerted the director of DPUE through Whatsapp about the leakage of question paper and this time, police alerted the board about the leakage of chemistry re-exam’s question paper around 3am on March 31. They had sent three sets of hand written question papers through Whatsapp, of which one question paper matched with the original question paper.

Cancelling the exam again, Pallavi Akurthi said:"Unfortunately question paper has leaked for the second time. We will announce the new dates to conduct chemistry re-exam without any glitches soon."

The re-exam to be conducted today in 975 centres across the state of Karnataka was cancelled affecting over 1.7 lakh students. In one instance, a parent of a student climbed the Board building in protest. Brushing aside demands of resignation of the education minister and board director, state chief minister Siddaramaiah said the state CID will probe the leak.
