In a temporary relief to Kejriwal and JNU students, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi will not linger around the power corrodors as his name has been removed the list of contenders for the post of Central Information Commissioner. Bassi is retiring from the service on February 29, 2016 and had applied for one of the three vacancies as Information Commissioner.
The parliamentary committee consists of the Prime Minister, Congress Leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. With Congress taking exception to Bassi’s recent overtures of arresting JNUSU leader Kanhaiya Kumar on sedition charges without concrete proof or evidence has already informed its displeasure at his name for the post.
Otherwise, Bassi remained in constant hostility with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who described him as "a BJP agent" to carry out the orders of the Union government.
Despite Supreme Court’s ban on protests in Patiala Courts on Wednesday, JNUSU leader was manhandled by lawyers and his remarks that the victim was fine and the situation "was not out of hand" have triggered outrage in social media.
