In 100 days since winning Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in May and returning to power, Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa has taken out full page advertisements in local newspapers listing the government’s achievements, especially on her promise to close liquor shops gradually.
While loan waivers benefitted 16.94 lakh farmers, free power to households was just 100 units, to handloom weavers 200 units, 750 units to powerloom weavers, while the major issue of closure of liquor shops was 500 in the first 100 days. It has also taken credit for the dedication of the first 1,000 MW nuclear power plant at Kudankulam.
The other achievements include the extension of Chennai Metro Rail Phase-I at an outlay of Rs 3,770 crore; increase in freedom fighters monthly pension to Rs 12,000, family pension and special pension increased to Rs 6,000.
The TN government said it has provided Rs.890 crore for giving free laptops to students and Rs.182.33 crore for providing goats and milch cows free of cost to the poor.
